Social-first video
Social-first video shoots
I shoot social-first video for Irish brands and companies from Dublin. One shoot is framed to work in vertical and horizontal, then edited hook-first and delivered in 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 for every platform you post on.
What a social-first shoot is
A social-first shoot is planned for the feed from the start. Instead of cropping a widescreen film into a vertical one afterwards, the framing, pacing and edit are designed for how people actually watch on Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.
One shoot, every format
I compose each set-up so it works in both vertical and horizontal frames. That means one shoot day can be delivered as 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, 1:1 for the feed and 16:9 for YouTube, LinkedIn or your website, without losing the subject at the edge of the frame.
Edited to stop the scroll
Social edits are cut hook-first, so the opening second or two gives people a reason to keep watching. I edit and colour grade everything myself in DaVinci Resolve, so the look stays consistent across every format.
Recent social work
For Sprout & Co I filmed their annual summer BBQ, a day of games and socialising for the whole team, and cut it into a 51-second vertical film in 9:16 for their social channels.

Common questions
What formats do you deliver?
Social-first shoots are delivered in multiple formats from the same footage: 9:16 vertical, 1:1 square and 16:9 widescreen.
Do you shoot vertical and horizontal separately?
Usually not. I frame each set-up to work in both, so one shoot covers every format.
Do you edit the social cuts too?
Yes. I edit the cuts hook-first and colour grade them myself in DaVinci Resolve.
